The French term ‘bricolage’ describes my work at the moment. A wide range of interests is one reason I’m a good graphic designer. Each client and each project is different, and I always learn something new. Same goes for my personal work.
SUBSCRIBER PERK (for you!): a discount on a bricolage-inspired collection in my Etsy shop. The only thing these four items have in common is that they are some of my favorite designs — created by combining my own work with images from the public domain. Use this link at checkout for the discount.
MidMod clock, Frida Kahlo shirt, Gettysburg mug, Kansas sunflower tote
Mid Mod clock
Mid-century modern is always a fun design theme! My inspiration for this color-wheel clock was George Nelson’s iconic design.
Frida Kahlo shirt
Using a self-portrait of Frida, her signature, and some added design elements, this pink shirt celebrates the artist and makes a great Mother’s Day gift.
Gettysburg mug
The complete text of the Gettysburg Address is overlaid on my graphite drawing of Lincoln on this mug.
Kansas sunflower tote
It’s a little past Kansas Day, but it’s never too late to celebrate the Sunflower State.
Sketchbook tour
Here’s a quick tour through my most recent sketchbook. More bricolage — you’ll see drawings, thumbnails for clients projects, scribble portraits of Meet the Press panelists, abstract acrylics, and probably a couple pages of notes and to-do lists.
Need some design advice?
Is your business considering rebranding? I offer a design consulting service that can be very valuable before undertaking such an important process. Sometimes all that’s needed is a refresh, some minor tweaks to bring things into focus and better tell your company’s story. Or maybe just adjusting some of your current marketing efforts. If this sounds good, let’s get together your specific situation, either in person or via Zoom and discuss it. Email me me here and we’ll set up a time to chat.
Till next time!
